I work for a Fortune 500 company in Columbus, Ga; 26 yrs now. My work is totally internet based. Our company started exploring working from home about 5 years ago. We have several employees who live in Atlanta and commute either by the ride share van or their own cars. I moved to Atlanta from Columbus 2 years ago and was given the opportunity work from home 3 days a week and go into the office 2 days so I stay connected to what’s going on at work. On my home days, I log in every morning at 8:30 just like everyone else in the office. If there’s an important meeting or team building session on my home days, I just suck it up and go to the office. And, working from home doesn’t have to mean “home”. I take my laptop with me to appointments, my mother’s house if I happen to be in Columbus on my home days, to my son’s house in Oakland, Ca. etc. Never once has my boss emailed, instant messaged, or called me on my company Iphone and not been able to reach me. Working from home totally works for me. I actually get more done at home than I do at the office. But, if I had to I would come back in the office; I wouldn’t quit.

I choose the office. Having a career away from the house makes it well worth coming home. Besides, I like getting away from these kids lol
I work from home it’s a blessing and a curse the blessing is that I don’t have to get out in the car the curse is I can still work if I’m sick.
