It depends where you live. If you live near a cloelge, you might be able to sign up for a language partner , where you teach someone English and they teach you Spanish (all for free). You can call up a cloelge and see if they offer such a program. They are usually always looking for native English speakers. Plus, it might be fun to meet someone from Peru and get some pointers for your trip. Or you could post such a need at a cloelge or library. I did this myself with Japanese, and it worked out well. We met once a week, and she was really good about making me speak Japanese for half of the time. Of course, it depends who you get set up with. Since you don’t know any Spanish (at least that’s what is sounds like), I’d recommend getting a book (even out of the library) and going through that with the person. Language is definitely something learned in a relationship. That’s why it’s important to find someone to practice with. However, if that’s impossible, you can go to your library and see if they have language tapes/CD’s you can listen to. Pimaseleur (sp?) has a good reputation. Make sure to speak back out loud, not just listen. Good luck!

Ha ha… I was just surfing around and took a look at these remarks. I can’t believe that there’s still this much attention. Thanks for writing about this.
